My blog has risen to a record high of $1.43 per share and is listed as a "buy". So get to your nearest internet service provider and log on to blogshares and buy my blog!!!

I was reading the news this morning and the gay cowboy movie "Brokeback Mountain" has earned 7 Golden Globe nominations including best dramatic picture and best actor and actress for Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams. It has more nomination than any other film! Now being that this is a gay themed movie I'm sure it's not going to win most of the 7 since the good ol' U.S. of A is still in the 50's when it come to the gay issue. I've had a chance to see this film at a screening and it's pretty good. It could be a bit shorter but I guarantee that you will get teary eyed at the end. Plus it's fun to see Heath and Jake Gyllenhaal (yum yum yum!) go at it.

In another turn of events, I went stereo shopping with Cesar last night. Boy were we completely disappointed!!! We went to Best Buy and apparently stereos have become obsolete. Everything was pretty much in a theater system and the only one Cesar even thought about buying was this funky little iPod apparatus. It was small but it sounded pretty darn good. Alas we left with not a stereo for Cesar to call his own.

And since I've agreed to go to 2 different functions with him, he is now obligated to go to the Chamber Christmas party with me on Wednesday. As I said before Cesar, I promise to get you liquored up before we go so you can be able to deal with the wonderful folks who will be there!!!

I'll bring the wine!!!

To The Moon Alice!

Ever been on the phone with a customer service agent and you just wanted to reach through the phone and choke them?? I really seriously honestly think that in order to be a CSA for Bally's you have to be rude. And I don't mean sassy....I mean all out rude!

Apparently when I lost my bank card at the end of October I neglected to update Bally's with the new one that was issued. It seems that they had called my house 3 times (actually it was an automated voice message) but since I never answer the home phone I didn't pick it up. Well the other day I noticed that the light was blinking 10 times so I figured I'd hit play and let it clear. That's when I heard the automated message from Bally's.

I knew immediately what the call was about because I was thinking "Why are they saying it's urgent that I contact them??" Then I realized that I must not have given them the updated card number. So I called on my way back to work. The guy (I won't even call him a gentlemen because he wasn't!) didn't even ask why I was calling and how he could be of service. He immediately started into the whole "Your account is going to collections blah blah blah..." so I cut him off. I told him to hold up and give me a freaking minute to explain. So I did.....that my card was lost and a new one was issued and to go ahead and charge the amount that was due. Then he said I needed to pay for January as well....um it's only December! I told him no way and to just charge the amount I said. Then he proceeded to try to upsell me! The nerve! As if I were in any mood after he ripped me to buy anything else.

I politely declined and told him that I didn't appreciate the tone he had. And if he had been just a wee bit nicer perhaps I'd consider such an upgrade....but he blew it!

I just don't get people who are in general rude but are in customer service.

Seriously, if I wasn't the happy go-lucky, bright eyed and bushy tailed person I am I would never have considered sales!

C-E-S-A-R!!

C is for Charisma because he has oh so much!

E is for Entertianing because he is just so damn funny!

S is for Shoes because they are his drug of choice.

A is for Amazing because he just is (well....after me that is.)

R is for Rockstar because he could be one.

Put them all together and it spells CESAR!!

3 cheers for the best Mexican ever!

The Weekend And Other Happenings....

I grab my bags and head out to spend my weekend with Dorrell. Let me tell you.....the drive up I-35 was HORRIBLE! I have never been heading north on that freeway during rush hour much less on a Friday. I didn't get to UNT in Denton until after 6:00. I seriously thought I was never going to get out of Lewisville and was contemplating just pulling over and pitching a tent on the grassy knoll I came across next to this God-forsaken stretch of concrete.

But I digress....as soon as I passed UNT I was able to pick up speed to about 75 and off to the Great State of Oklahoma! I've never been there before so I can't say too much about it. Dorrell calls me and tells me that my name is on the room and to ask for a key at the front desk. Then he say's that he cannot wait to see me when he gets out of rehearsal. TEE HEE!!

I get into OKC a little after 8:30 and I noticed something....the people there drive SOOOOOO slow. The speed limit says 60 and they actually go 60. I was going bonkers. Anyhoo I get to the hotel with a pounding headache and head upstairs to take some Aleve. Dorrell calls me a little after 9:00 and says he'll be there shortly. Well I'm not going anywhere because it's friggin' 30 degrees WITH wind outside so I decide to watch some TV until he gets there. That didn't go over too well because the time was passing by so slow.

Finally he gets there and I get the biggest hug (and kiss!) ever!!! It felt so good and I was extremely happy to see him (as was he to see me.)

Well the weekend was beyond great. It felt wonderful to see him and we both hated having to depart until February. But a funny thing happened.....for the first time I didn't feel sad leaving him. I felt happy this time. Usually I get all knotted up inside and cry for a week, but not this time. I dropped him off at the airport on Sunday night and was kinda shocked that he kissed me outside of the car. I usually am against PDA but I didn't care. I left and drove home to Dallas feeling blissful.

I couldn't explain to myself why I was feeling this way when EVERY other time I felt the exact opposite. I asked Alex why he thought this was and he gave me an explanation that was as clear as the nose on my face: I wasn't sad because he has told me that wants to settle down with me and I know my future is with him.

After Alex said this I quickly ran through the chain of events over the past month in my head and I realized that Alex was right. I couldn't believe that of all things this was something I couldn't explain to myself. I'm usually very good at recognizing and explaining why I'm feeling a certain way to myself, but it took someone else to point out the very obvious.

So there you have it.....I'm still feeling happy even today. I've known for a very long time that Dorrell is the one that I was going to end up with. It was just a matter of when this was going to happen and our lives beginning to intersect. Now that he's almost done with his NYC gig the gas pedal is being pressed down, we're starting to take off.

But I will say this....I've realized that finding that one person who makes you feel every positive feeling in the world is very important. Everyone will eventually run into that one person that they know they want to be with forever. And I'm gonig to do whatever I have to do on my part to make this happen....

Tis The Season.

So Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is right around the corner. I can't believe how fast this year went. It wasn't a particularly excellent year but it wasn't all that bad either.

I've decided that smoking will cease January 1. Yes I know....why wait til then?? Well I decided that since there is only 1 more month in the year I might as well enjoy myself.

This holiday weekend was a much needed one for me. I had an extremely horrible 3 day work week last week and 2 days off from that place was exactly what I needed. Business is really picking up and that makes my job much more enjoyable!

Next weekend (actually this coming weekend) I'm headed off to Oklahoma City to see Dorrell. When I read that he invited a "friend" to a play I thought the end of the posting was going to reveal that he took said "friend" home. I was flabbergasted at the beginning.....turns out I wound up merely disappointed by the end of the reading. Cesar, it didn't turn out like I thought it was going to! I was about to pick up my phone to call you and say "Dirty Girl!"

Cesar's last few entries have made me laugh. I need more things like this to read when bored at work!!! But I have a few moments before heading home from work so I thought I'd write something!

My parents were in town this weekend (in fact they aren't leaving until Tuesday) for a surprise visit for my sister's 47th birthday. I can't believe I have a sister who is almost 50. I remember being younger and we would visit my mom's family. I would think how weird it would be to have a sister or brother that old! Now here I am with one who is. Scary!!

The realization of my parents age was firmly cemented as well. I drove back out on Saturday afternoon and was just hanging out talking and my dad mentioned that he forgot his toothbrush. He asked me to take him to the store so we headed out. We get there and I pick up a small basket because we had to get some other items. I'm walking along just talking when I realized that my dad wasn't with me. Confused, I looked back and there he was....many steps behind me. "Slow down I can't walk as fast as I used to!" is what he said. It made me kinda sad. I hate seeing my parents get older. Granted I know that it's going to happen but I want them to be with me for a long while.

In all it was a good visit. My sister was very huggy with me and I got to see pictures of my niece in her uniform (she's in the Air Force). I can't believe how good she looks. I was very proud to see her like that and I also found out she's going to be in Turkey for 2 years! How cool is that! She's beyond excited to be going and will be taking her 2 kids with her. I think it's awesome that she is doing this and is giving her children an opportunity to be around other cultures and learn new things. I'm so jealous I want to be one of her kids too!!!

OH!! Also found out today I get to see Dorrell the first weekend in December! I'm doing a happy dance now. :-)

This Just In.....

From msnbc.com:

Irving based Exxon Mobil has reported the largest quarterly profit EVER for any U.S. company.......$9.92 billion dollars.

What kind of bullshit is that?? I'd Like To Talk To Myself.

I'm one of those people who when personal things are going down (and I do mean down) I tend to keep them inside. Unfortunately it all ends up coming out in a big sobbing mess at some point. That's what happened to me yesterday after work. I made the mistake of calling home and I ended up talking to my niece on the phone. As usual when I call home, I petty much sat on the other end of the phone listening to issues being vented. Most of this conversation had to do with her and her mother. That's when I lost it.

I hung up the phone and all of a sudden I started crying. It wasn't one of those pretty cries either....it was one of the sloppy ones. I realized that this was happening because of a culmination of different things: work related, personal, and family. That night I had a talk with my roommate and I had this epiphany.....I'm emotionally bankrupt and I feel like I've lost myself.

I feel like an ATM that people are taking too many withdrawals from but depositing nothing to replenish what they are using. I find that I spend alot of time listening to people talk about their problems, helping them out when they are in a financial crunch, and just plain bending over backwards to make things easier for them. Yet I get very little in return. I'm not talking about a monetary return either....a simple "Thank you" or a show of appreciation would be more than enough. Is that too much to ask for? I spend so much time giving and giving support or a shoulder to cry on that by the time I get to myself I have nothing left. Nada. Zip.

Things at work have been pretty tight too. Being that my income is commission based finances are having to be watched right now. I cannot call home without getting an earfull of so-and so aren't talking to each other because of some really stupid (and I do mean S-T-U-P-I-D) fight or my brother's girlfriend is pregnant or mom's being absurdly rude to dad. Throw Mr. Lamont and how all his shit is affecting me into the mix and I'm at my wits end.

I'm supposed to go home for Thanksgiving and now I don't even want to bother. Growing up I always felt like my oldest sister Peggi had somewhat disconnected herself from the rest of the family. I never really understood why I felt that way but last night I did. If I can get this worked up being 500 miles away from them, then I don't even want to think about how I'd be if I was within 10 feet.

Maybe I'll get a sign. A big flashing sign that says "I'm sorry, you're transaction cannot be completed at this time." Think it'll work??

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2005/10/if-you-happen-to-see-me-please-let-me.html' title='If You Happen To See Me, Please Let Me Know. Apparently Compass Bank has adopted a new practice in which they post items to your account in the order in which they are received. If you have a check clearing and a deposit also posting the same day, they will clear the check FIRST in the event that it was first in line.

What kind of crap is this?? So I've spent the past 2 days bank shopping and asking their policy on how they post debits and credits to their customers accounts. Wells Fargo, BofA, and Chase all said that regardless of what came in first they always post deposits before running any debits.

So not only did I call up Compass customer service, I also went inside a my branch and was even more furious when no one (and I spoke to 4 different people) even bothered to comfort me when I told them I was closing my account out on Friday. I now feel like this bank is taking complete advantage of their customers for the sole purpose of charging as many fees as possible. Sure they rebate any fees you get from using other banks ATM's, and their checking accounts are free with no charges for checks.....but I guess they felt they were losing too much money on this little scam. They use these tactics to lure you in and fuck you without any lube!!! OUCH!

They're At It Again!

Am I the only one who is tired of the scare tactics that the media uses? I've been reading a lot of this bird flu thingy that killed like 60 people in 2 years over in Asia. Now I keep reading stories about how scientists are terrified that it's going to mutate into a form that humans can pass and sweep Europe. To take procautions they are killing thousands of birds in areas where it's been detected.

Most of these places are in remote areas of Asian countries that have bird farms. I guess they are killing them because birds are migratory. But doesn't it take a long time before a virus can mutate? I may be wrong.

Remember the whole SARS thing a couple of years ago?? Now do you read much of anything on that?? Nope!!

I am so desensitized now that things like this don't even register anymore. I just read it and go on to the next story.

The Weekend In Advance.....

Another cold front came through last night and it's a slightly cool 50 degrees outside right now and kinda rainy. I've decided I'm not doing jack shit this weekend other than keeping my ass at home. Perhaps this has to do with me having a cold....but that's never stopped me before! I just partied way too hard last weekend and I think I paid for it all week. :-(

Last night I actually cooked....yes you heard me right. I made green chili enchiladas and refried beans. They came out ok but I don't think I put enough chili in them. It was either that or my cold kept me from really tasting them. I didn't get to eat any beans though because I forgot to turn the stove off and they all dried up.

I'm supposed to be doing dinner and a movie at home with Keithen but we'll see how that goes. Next weekend is going to be fun. But I must say.....when I thought she couldn't be any hotter with this supposed "comeback" (because in my mind she was never really gone...just not as prominent) out of nowhere comes a new song that is not on her current album. AOL debuted it and it's called "Don't Forget About Us" and this song is SMOKIN'. Apparently she's re-releasing Mimi in November with new tracks, remixes and videos which is perfect for the holiday shopping season.

She's on top right now with "Shake It Off" and has much more in store but apparently wanted to release this new song even though it didn't make the final cut of the album. If you get a chance click on my Mariah Daily link and take a listen. You'll be hooked!

You're !@#$%&? Kidding Me, Right?

So this weekend was.....well it was completely uneventful. I still was feeling kinda funky on Friday night so I kept myself drugged up. Saturday morning I took Sergio to the airport then came home and cleaned like a mad person. That made me feel better!

I called Cesar about going out to dinner, some shopping, then out afterwards but he had to be studious....so I called Keithen. Well that was a complete waste of time! He said he was hungover from the night before (at 5:30 in the evening??) and said he would call me back after he got himself together in a few. I said ok and hung up the phone. I then immdiately began to cook dinner because I wasn't about to wait for him. AND he never called back.

Ate dinner in my clean clean clean apartment and was just watching some tv. I was watching "Jumanji" (yeah so fun!) when I thought I heard something around 11:00. I ignored it until I heard it again and realized someone was knocking at my door.....as of someone rapping, rapping at my chamber door. "Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-only this, and nothing more."

Anyhoo I got up to look out the peep hole and saw it was the woman who lives below me. I recognized her from the few occassions I accidentally got off on the wrong floor and tried to walk into her apartment. OOPSIE!!! I opened and she said she had a toddler who was trying to sleep and that my bass was a bit too loud. I told her I didn't have the bass on at all and just my tv (the volume of which you could barely hear out in the hall). Then she said maybe it was the tv and I said I don't think it was me at all. THEN she asked if I would mind turning off my television early tonight.....at 11:00. I couldn't believe what she just asked me.

So I told her that while I sympathize and feel sorry for her for having a child, I too live here and pay rent and am not about to turn off my tv. Furthermore I've lived here for almost a year and there have been plenty of times where I've actually had the stereo system on at full bass during the week late at night and not once have I had a complaint. I proceeded to tell her that perhaps it was the individuals who live below her who tend to have parties from time to time (I've seen them from their balcony) or someone who lives next door to her. She had this look of surprise on her face but what did she expect?? For me to say "Ok not a problem!"

So she left and I went back to my Jumanji. Then it hit me....she's the moron with the baby! The crying baby! The baby that has kept me up some nights with crying causing me to be tired all day at work. I've told Sergio about said baby but he swears he hears nothing. So the next time this baby starts crying and keeps me up I'm marching right down to her apartment to introduce myself as the person who lives above her. I'm going to ask her to turn off her baby because there is an adult upstairs who is trying to get some sleep!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2005/09/youre-kidding-me-right.html' title='You're !@#$%&? This was actually on the msnbc.com website. I can sleep soundly now knowing that her boobies are 100% au-natural.

I needed something to laugh about because I was yet again pissed off this morning with Lamont. See I did this huge favor for him....a favor of which I'm not going to disclose because I don't want any smacks in the back of my head. In fact only one person who reads this blog knows what it is!!!

But I digress.....he continually messes up on his end of the deal. Instead of keeping me in the loop on the entire situation he doesn't tell me anything and then I get a surprise phone call which ends up pissing me off.

He doesn't seem to understand WHY I get so upset. I mean let me know and I'll be understanding. But if you continue to not let me know and I have to find out through a phone call at work (which ends up ruining my entire day) then I get really pissed.

I look so forward to the day when this favor I did comes to an end. I hate getting sick. Plus I know who I caught it from and something told me that I should have stayed away from them. GRRR!!!!

Plus I've been having some really crazy dreams this week. In fact I had such a bad one that I actually scared myself awake Monday night. I had a little bit of a fever and kept waking up with these sweating fits. Around 4:00 I woke up from a very bad nightmare with this awful feeling of terror as if someone (or something) was in my room......something was wasn't quite nice. I was so scared that I couldn't open my eyes at all or move. After about 20 minutes I darted out of bed and turned on the lamp next to my bed. I proceeded to close my closet door, open my bedroom door, close the bathroom door, and turn on the light over the stove. I then tried to go back to sleep with both lights on and I kept my bedroom door open. I was seriously close to going into Sergio's room and sleeping.

Last night I slept without any lights but with my closet door closed and my bedroom one open....just in case!

Enough With The Religion!

I knew it was going to enevitable. Eventually there was going to be someone on the news who would feel compelled to say that Katrina happened as a punishment from God and we MUST turn from our sinful ways.

Um....let's see......the Gulf Coast always has and always will be vulnerable to hurricanes. This isn't the first time that a hurricane has devastated New Orleans and it probably won't be the last either. It's also a matter of time before the same thing happens to Miami. I don't take these as a sign from God. Now if it hit the coast of California THEN maybe I would. Because how many hurricanes have hit Cali??

It's going to be these same people saying the same thing when the "big one" finally hits California. It has nothing to do with a punishment from God. It has to do with certain areas being vulnerable to certain natural disasters be it earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

Why is it that some folks find a way to input a religious meaning into EVERYTHING???

The Mind.....Such A Funny Aparatus!

I find it interesting how we can totally psych ourselves out of something. For example I don't fill up my car anymore because as long as I don't see the total dollar amount I'm putting in go any higher than what I was before I feel better about it. I do this even though I put gas in one more time a week than I used to. I'm still paying more overall but it's that psychological notion of the dollar amount I'm seeing at that moment.

Also I haven't been sleeping soundly at night. So this week I decided to sleep the opposite of what I usually do with my head at the foot of my bed. And SHAZAAM!!! I've slept soundly all week long. I'm still in my bed but just knowing I'm positioned differently changes how my mind operates.

Now if only this could work on the whole being single thing.....

I Think I'll Get A Bicycle.

On 8/8 I wrote an entry about gas being $2.45 a gallon. If you're clueless just say so and an explanation will be provided.

Ok....I'm back in Dallas doing the same 'ol same 'ol after a rather lenghty trip to L.A. and San Francisco. Being there for 10 days made me want to NOT come back to Texas. I realized how uptight and conservative Texas is even though this state has 3 of the nations 10 biggest cities. People in California just seem to be a bit more relaxed and accepting. I encountered every ethnicity I could think of and it was so cool to just be able to hear all these different languages around me. Do we have that here in Texas? Nope!

The weather there is wonderful. My skin has never felt better and my hair was so manageable! It sucked getting off the plane at D/FW and just feeling the heat hit me. UGH!

I've had a number of people ask me a number of times to move to California and I always turned down the offer. Now I'm going to make it a priority!

O The Places You'll Go!

Anyone ever click on that tab in the upper right hand corner that says "next blog?" I don't bother looking for the cheapest price because now I really don't see a difference between paying $2.54 a gallon vs $2.59.

As I'm standing outside of my car I began to look around and noticed something. I noticed the guy at the pump in front of me was in a brand new Hummer (it still had the temporary plate on it). A few pumps over there was another guy filling up his Escalade and a woman putting gas in her Expedition. Then it hit me....

It hit me that we have no one to blame but ourselves for what we are paying to fuel up our vehicles. After seeing these people I got upset then I became disgusted. It was then that I realized that we are a nation obsessed with excess. Is there really any need to have vehicles THIS large? We use 25% of the world's oil making us the country with the largest consumption and yet there are people out there buying Hummer's and other large SUV's.

So I guess we can cry all we want, but it's not going to do any good. Who's to blame? I think we are!

....And The Horse You Rode In On.

Terror alerts have been issued to New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The government has issued these because of the possibility that Al-Qaeda cells may use fuel tanks to target them. Yet they cannot confirm the authenticity of the intel. Then why even issue them???

Speaking of L.A., has anyone seen the movie "Constantine" starring the incredibly talented Keanu Reeves? Notice how the images of hell look just like the city?? Hmmm.....

On another note I've noticed that I've been getting random people commenting on some of my postings, some of which are anonymous. Am I that intriguing that these folks feel compelled to comment?? I don't mind the comments even though some of them are anonymous. That was until I came across the comments on my random posting on 5/25.

In a nutshell, I wrote about the radio staion 106.7 and it's promo ("Where Latino's Live") and a song entitled "Latino's Stand Up." I said that I hate the promo and hate the song. Someone commented and proceeded to rip me by saying that I'm trashing Latino's, I'm a disgrace, that I have no right to use the word Mexican in my profile and that the word Chicano best suits me. I have since then deleted those comments.

Hopefully this person will come across my blog again and read this post. This is what I have to say to you Mr. (or Mrs.) Anonymous - Fuck you and the big ass chip on your shoulder. I don't know where you got the idea that I was trashing Latinos to begin with. I said I hate the PROMO. I hate the way the girl sounds. And as for the song....it still sucks and always will.

Now onto the comment about how I shouldn't even use the word Mexican and instead use the word Chicano in my profiile. First of all this is Texas and I've lived here for 10 years. In the 10 years that I've lived here I have never come across a fellow brown person who has used Chicano to describe themselves. Perhaps if this was California it might be different. But I digress....everyone that I know and have encountered in this state has used 1 of the following 3 terms to describe their ethnicity/race: Mexican, Hispanic, or Latino.

So because of Mr. (or Mrs.) Anonymous Douche Bag I have changed my settings and will no longer be accepting anonymous comments. This is my space.....my space to put down my thoughts and ideas. I am the king when it comes to my blog and will banish you from my kingdom without hesitation!

Get Yer Head Outta Yer Ass!

In today's edition of the Dallas Morning News there is a story about Texas now being the 4th state where Whites are the minority and Hispanics have become the majority. I read this on the website and found it interesting. What I found even more interesting was the section where you can put comments on the story. Some of what I read completely floored me. I can't believe some of the idiotic things that were written.

One person had the audacity to say that Texas is pretty much being given back to Mexico even after our forefathers fought hard to free the state from Mexico. "Free" the state?? What?? Am I missing something?? Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Texas pretty much invaded and taken from Mexico?? How is that considered being freed? Texas (along with New Mexico and Arizona) was taken as a part of plan to have the U.S. span "from sea to shining sea." Is this ideaology of being "freed" thought of in the same manner when these "forefathers" landed on Plymouth Rock and proceeded to pilage and slaughter the Indians then force them onto reservations all while taking their land?

But don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing the U.S. or anything as I do believe that this is a wonderful country. But I get so irritated when people completely disregard how the U.S. came to be.

Another person wanted to know that since he is now considered the minority if he can have all the benefits that non-whites get (i.e. affirmative action). Hmmm.....you've had the advantage for, what........500+ years? And now that you are less than 50% of the population you automatically want these advantages? How about waiting 500+ years to gain them? How about being made to feel inferior because of the color of your skin? How about being paid less and forced to work as domestic help or not being able to go to college because it's financially out of your reach? How about being forced into slavery? How bout being forced to ride in the back of buses and having to use completely seperate public facilities? Only after you have endured what people of color have had to overcome to become somewhat equal today can you be extended such "advantages." I say "somewhat equal" because if every one was considered to be on the same level there would be no need for things such as affirmative action.

People of color have had to fight for a very, very long time to get to where we are today. Because let's face it folks....no matter how far we think we've come there are still those who feel that being Hispanic, Black, Asian, etc. is not as good.

I'll get off my soap box now! :-P

This ATM has a $2.50 Transaction Fee. DONE!!!! I always feel bad when someone comes to me needing help. I automatically feel I should help them out and so I do. The only problem is that I have yet to see any of that be returned. I am owed so much that it makes me cringe when I think about it. I could fill up with less than $10. It was a good play mixing both humor with the heaviness of homosexuality and religion. It's based on Del Shore's experiences growing up in Texas so it's kinda auto-biographical.

It was interesting to sit there and hear people sniffle and get teary eyed during some scenes. It was obvious that this hit home with some members of the audience. While I did think it was moving, it didn't move me in the way it did for other people watching it. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that I was able to separate my spirituality from my sexuality early on in life. It was obvious that some were conflicted when they were younger about who they were and accepting themselves.

I'm just glad that I have strong sense of who I am and am able to be happy with myself and my life. Hopefully one day American society will be able to allow everyone to be who they are without the fear of humiliation and rejection. First off I didn't want to take time away from my vacation time that I'm using for my trip to Cali in August. Plus I wouldn't be able to take off time so close to that trip. I also really just didn't feel like going.

My sister Gina told me that I should go. She said that she felt the same way but ended up going to hers and had a great time. I figure I can hold off until the next one. Almost all of my friends are my age (with the exception of a few) and I don't recall any of them mentioning going to theirs.

I'll hold off until the next one. If we did that we would never get to work!!! tee hee!

I've realized that I have the biggest collection of cheese on my computer. I was skimming through all my MP3's on my computer recently and I've noticed a rather large quantity of music that I would only listen to in my car with my window's up: A Teens, Steps, Lindsay Lohan, Da Buzz, a whole lotta Britney Spears (although her I admit to), Bosson, Hilary Duff, and others. With the exception of Ms. Spears (or rather Mrs. Kevin "I'm a big unemployed white trash loser" Federline), Hilary and her arch nemesis Lindsay, most are probably wondering "Who the hell are these groups??" To answer this question I suggest you take a quick listen to Radio Disney. Yup you read it right.....RADIO DISNEY.

Now that you are done laughing at me, you may return to your regularly scheduled program.

You Can't Yell At Me Because You Aren't Drunk.

It's been quite some time since I've written anything. I've just haven't felt like writing much....but I do now.

The whole family (with the exception of my brother and one of my sisters) were in town last weekend. My niece was leaving for the Airforce and she had a little shin-dig before leaving. I decided to stay in Ft. Worth instead of driving all the way back to Dallas just to have to head back out there the following morning. In all it was a good visit.

My nephew Disean was staying an extra week and I had plans to pick him and my other nephew Aaron up after work this past Friday and have them hang out with me. Unfortunately Diseans mother has yet to cut the umbilical cord and wasn't comfortable having him in Dallas without her here. Even though he is going to be 14 in about 2 months I guess she thought I might be taking him bar hopping or out to a strip club. So I had to cancel those plans and I was rather upset about it. I was really looking forward all week to having them over and hanging out.

Instead I picked up Cesar, Caesar, and this guy named Gabe and we went to the opening of a new restaurant/bar called Che. I had a good time there and we finished the night at Havana where Cesar ended up having an absolutely fabulous time!!! :-)

Next month Cesar and I are heading out to LA and San Francisco for a week. I'm really looking forward to that because I've never been to California and to get away for a little bit.

Falling Down The Rabbit Hole.....Anyone Have A Pill?

This weekend was exhausting for me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Now don't get me wrong about the level of fun because I had more fun than I have had in a VERY long time.

Since Fernando couldn't go it was just Cesar and I who headed out to Houston. The drive down was really good....traffic was very light and the weather was beautiful. We got the hotel and checked in around 9:00 and spent about 1 1/2 hours just relaxing before getting beautified and heading out. As is always the case this wasn't without some adventure!

We were lost for a considerable amount of time. I don't know what part of Houston we were in (apparently it's called The Heights) and after almost an hour (I think) we stopped at a gas station and asked for directions. We eventually made it to our destination in one piece. I think Cesar was a little on the tired side and I was on the nervous I-want-to-throw-up side because of who I was going to be seeing. When I did see him I can't explain what went through me. It was like someone turned on the emotion valve and I began to overflow. I was praying that I would be able to compose myself and be relaxed. I'm not even sure how good of a job I did.

Cesar did make a threat on Saturday night.....either I get everything out or he was going to do it for me! So I did exactly what Cesar said to do on Sunday. Things came out of my mouth that I didn't think I had the guts to say and now I'm a train wreck. I know that I am such a stubborn person and always want some sort of control over any situation that I'm in but now I feel more vulnerable than I have ever felt.....and I don't like it. I tore down my wall and let my true feelings and colors be seen. Even though what I said was said to me in return and that made me ecstatic, I feel shredded inside. I've heard people use the word "heartache" and I completely understand now what they mean now.

I'm sitting here at work and cannot concentrate. My mind is racing at 1000 mph and I want to be able to slam on the brakes....but I can't. Part of me wants someone to tell me I'm being completely irrational and to bring me down a level or two. I'm trying really hard to keep myself occupied because I know that if I don't and allow myself to sit here and think I'll lose it and start crying. In fact, I did this morning. I became overpowered by a wave of emotion and as hard as I tried to stop it I couldn't. It wasn't one of those annoying sobbing cries either.....they just started falling from my eyes like rain.

I wish I could be a hard person and be able to shut my emotions off whenever I feel like it....but I can't. I guess I'm just going to have to deal with it and move on to the next stage in this development.....wherever it takes me I don't know.

Latinos Stand Up!

That's the name of a song. Ok maybe I'm being a bit overdramatic, but I was seriously ill. I came down with the worst case of strep throat I've ever had. I don't know where I got it from (actually I have a hunch but won't reveal my source!) and I was out from work until Thursday.

To make matters worse I didn't get to eat until Thursday night.....that's almost 5 full days without food! I swear tears started streaming down my face once I was finally able to eat. It tasted so friggin' good!!!!

I'm just glad that I didn't get sick this week because I'm going out of town with Cesar. Unfortunately the rest of our party who were going to go can't now. So now Cesar and I are trying our hardest to find someone we can tolerate for 3 whole days to go with us. Turns out this is a harder task than I had imagined.

On a totally unrelated note, I got a pleasant surprise in that I get to see Dorrell!!!! He called to let me know that he's going to be in Texas for 2 weeks and it just so happens that I will be in the same city during that time.

In sadder news, Wonderwoman will be leaving next week. She's moving back to California. I don't want her to go but it's the best thing right now. Hopefully she won't be gone long as the forces of evil are bound to regroup.

Our Heats Will Ever Faithful Be To Dear Old Goddard High

That is the last line in the Alma Mater of my high school.

So my 10 year high school reunion is this summer and it hit me how fast time has gone by. I don't feel old or anything (I do still get carded almost everywhere I go) but I can't believe how fast these past 10 friggin' years have gone by! I did look at the RSVP list and so far none of the ones who everyone thought were going to be successful (i.e. the popular crowd) have said they are going. I wonder why this is.....

I got the email notifying me of this unfortunate event. I call it unfortunate because I really don't care! The people I went to high school with that I still care about are still friends of mine. The others I could care less if I see again. Now don't get me wrong, if by some odd occurance I were to run into one of them I'd say high and play "catch up" for all of 10 minutes or so. But other than that it's of no significance to me. Hmmm.....now that I re-read this do I sound a little bit bitter??

Does anyone REALLY care about going to their high school reunion?

Going, Going, Gone!

Neiman Marcus
Originally uploaded by Hornedfrog77.

In some interesting business news today, Neiman Marcus was sold to 2 private investment firms for $5.1 billion dollars. There's a little voice inside my head that tells me to stop but I have a hard time listening to it.

I know that when I take on other people's problems they make my life more difficult because my mind is overrun with trying to solve everything. As usual, Sergio and I put it in an envelope and dropped it in the night drop. Thinking all was fine it didn't cross my mind again until we both noticed that the checks never cleared. I thought it was just taking longer this time then usual.

But on Wednesday night, I was home from work catching up on Oprah when a piece of paper slid through the door. I figured it was just another notice about a community event and ignored it. Plus I was really comfortable on the couch and didn't want to get up. Around 8:30 I was leaving for the gym and grabbed the piece of paper to read and to my surprise it was an eviction notice. Apparenlty we never paid rent!!! I freaked and called Sergio at work to let him know. We couldn't figure out what had happened and I said I would take care of it in the morning.

Unfortunately on Thursday morning the property manager was out sick. Go figure!! So I had to wait another day to find out what was going on. This morning I walked in and spoke with her. We went through all the checks that were in the drop box and she checked to make sure it wasn't stuck inside. We had no luck in finding the envelope. She had even said that she thought it was strange that ours wasn't received because we are never late!! She ended up letting us write another check without any penalty and said she would let us know if the envelope comes up.

So my worries about having to move (again) but this time into a box on the corner have come to an end. WOOHOO!!

Finally Going Straight.

Well Fernando and I didn't make it out of town last weekend. In my infinite wisdom, I accidentally booked the hotel for April 18 and NOT March 18. I didn't realize it until Thursday around 5:00. By that time there wasn't anything available and I let Fern know. We decided to postpone the trip because his sister was in town. Maybe next time!!

My first full week back at the Voice (and yes Kerry & Ivan, I quit Clear Channel)has been extremely busy. The guy who I replaced had so many things screwed up that I've spent all week trying to put out fires and calming down clients. I don't know WHAT he was doing but whatever it was it wasn't good.

Today I went to the dentist to have x-rays taken and molds done of my teeth because I'm getting Invisalign!!! Yes I'm finally going to go straight....or at least my teeth will. I'm excited because I'll have a perfect smile!!! Plus my client gave me a great deal and billed my dental plan from Clear Channel as much as possible. Hell...I have it until the end of the month so I might as well use it.

On a much different note, I have a guest visiting me next weekend. More on this later!!!!!

Another Gay 'Ol Time.

Well on Friday I talked to my sales manager and gave him my notice. He was completely cool with it and asked me to come back on Monday to talk to HR and make that my final day. So everything went fine!!

I left early that day because Cesar and I were heading out to Austin again that afternoon. Traffic was really bad and it took us almost 4 hours to get there. We stayed with Lamont's sister Vicci and had a good weekend. Sleep was a little on the light side but that was ok. On Sunday we went to the March on Austin and I'd never gone to one before. I was amazed at how supportive the residents of Austin are. There were only 2 protesters and they were at the gate to the capitol. We left for home around 5:30 that evening.

On Monday I talked to Derrick in HR and we finalized my termination papers. He said I was rehireable and if I wanted to come back I could. He even said he would change my leave date so I can get paid for the whole month instead of the 2 weeks. How cool was that!!!

So now I've been off all this week and it's been nice. I went to the GLBT Chamber of Commerce dinner last night and I was surprised at the turnout. There were quite a number of people and Cesar and I left that around 9:00. I came straight home, changed and headed out to Crews Inn with Sergio.

Anyhoo things are pretty relaxed right now. I'm going out of town (again) on Friday with Fernando and I'm trying to convince Cesar to go with us or at least meet us. We'll see if I can persuade him.

Well DUH!

In today's news there was yet another story of someone dying because some dumb ass was headed the wrong way on a freeway. I've noticed that this is becoming more frequent. I begin to wonder, how stupid do you have to be to NOT notice that you are on the wrong side of they highway?? If you can't figure this out then you shouldn't be driving.

And what is it with people who have to slow down to 10 miles under the speed limit to answer their cell phone? If you can drive and talk on the phone at the same time then do one or the other, but don't do both.

Come on people....get with the program!

Sidewalks Are An Evil Thing.

Cesar and I were in Austin this weekend. We didn't get to leave until about 8:00 on Friday night due to him having to work late, but we left anyways. By the time we got gas and got on the road it was almost 8:30. I got us there by 11:30.

We weren't able to make the function that we had intended to make, so we just went to the hotel and changed to go out. We headed out to this bar called Charlie's and had the worlds worst drinks. But then again what do you expect when they only cost $1!!! We met up with some people he knew and hung out. Regardless what Cesar says I don't think I was flirting!

The next day we got up to have lunch and went shopping. I got a pair of black Steve Madden's that Cesar was going to buy but didn't because they were too small (more on the tragedy of these shoes later.) We met up with the people from the night before and walked around downtown. Austin is one of the most different cities I've ever been to in Texas. It has this feel about it that no other city has. The city itself is pretty and the people are very relaxed and laid back. It's like you can walk around being yourself and no one will look at you weird or comment. I think that if I were to move there it's a place that I would enjoy living in.

Anyhoo...after an afternoon of walking, we all went to have drinks around 4:00 or so. I had a few Cosmopolitans that went straight to my head....but they were good! After our drinks we headed back to the hotel to rest before heading out for the evening. That night we went out to a place called Rain. It was a pretty cool place but not many people were there, so we went next door to another bar. That was kinda dead too but we still had a drink there while waiting for Cesar's friends to show and for Lamont's sister to arrive. We went back to Rain and all of a sudden it was packed! We ended up staying there the whole night because the atmosphere of the place and the people there were more our crowd.

After a night of drinking waaaay too many Cosmo's and breakfast afterwards we went back to the hotel. I had a little bit of trouble of walking and as I was heading towwards the stairs my left shoe hit the raised sidewalk and I went flying head first. Cesar thought this was quite a hoot and I thought he was going to fall down from laughing. The tragedy of it all is that I scuffed my new shoes. :-( Forget the fact that I bruised up both of my knees and elbow in the fall....I fucked up my shoes!!! Cesar's comfort of "I'm sure you can get that fixed" didn't help much. Now I have to find someone who can fix them for me.

We headed back on to Dallas on Sunday after having a late lunch and arrived safely around 5:30. We both decided to make periodic trips out of town just to get away from the maddness and frustration's of Dallas. It's always nice to go to a place you don't know and be around a different crowd of people. So whenever you're ready Cesar just let me know!!!

I'll be taking my shoes to a doctor very soon. :-(

Hello? Is Anyone Home?

It has been quite some time since I've done any blogging. Since Christmas I've done zilch. I've just been so busy and there really is alot to write, but I'm not going to do it in one sitting. This way I can write over a few weeks and have stuff to write about!!!

Tomorrow I'm going out of town with Cesar to Austin (not Houston like he has written!!) and I'm really looking forward to it. The past 2 weeks have been shit. I had the flu last week and this week has been very stressful at work. I'm beyond frustrated with my new job. I've even begun to wonder if I made the wrong decision about leaving The Voice.

I had no clue that radio was going to be so difficult and I got my first big order this week. I even got an RFP (Request For Proposal) from an agency in Denver and I was beyond nervous beacause they were asking for so much. I just kept thinking "Don't screw this one up." The thought about possibly making the wrong choice has been very strong. The last thing I neeed is to be let go.

Being the overly-analytical person that I am, I've been analyzing my thoughts really in depth. Was I anxious to leave The Voice because I needed to see what else was out there? Would it be possible to go back if I got fired from Clear Channel? What would I do if I got fired and wasn't able to go back to The Voice? What would I do then? You can see how frantic my mind is. Today at lunch even cemented my anxieties.

I went to lunch with Sandra, this Account Executive for KZPS. She started about a week after I did in December and we were in the same training classes that month. We were at lunch and she said that Miguel (one of her co-workers who also started in December and was in our training classes) was fired yesterday. I was completely shocked. She proceeded to express her worries about getting fired as well. We started talking and I realized that all of our worrying was exactly the same.....perhaps we just weren't cut out for radio sales. Not only did Miguel get fired, but Yalonda (another KZPS AE that started at the same time as us) was told that she had to either have $10,000 booked within the next 2 weeks or she was out. Sandra is now scared that the same will be told to her. We had a long discussion and it kinda felt good being able to express my frustrations with someone who knew how I felt.

So I keep asking myself....have I gotten in over my head? I wanted this so bad but now I don't know if it's what I want. I'm so used to making things happen and knowing what I'm doing that I now feel like I have absolutely no control. I hate feeling like this. Having some sort of control over the situation is vital to me and necessary for me to feel comforable. I also tell myself that I have only been there for 2 months and that I haven't been there long enough to make a logical decision on my progress.

Just how long should I give myself? Am I just being paranoid? I'm in bad need of a confidence booster in my abilities to succeed in this.

I wish I knew a good shrink!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2005/02/hello-is-anyone-home.html' title='Hello? It was beyond nerve racking because it was down to the very last minute due to an error on the client's part. But all went well until Tuesday morning when I was told that due to a technical problem, the computer system bumped out one of the spots. GREAT!!!! My very first client and it gets f'd up!! At least this wasn't my fault because I did everything right. Plus the client wasn't too upset about it because we gave him a make-good.

I can't believe that Christmas is next week. For some reason I though it was 2 weeks away until Sergio told me. I don't know why I thought that. As far as plans go, I really don't have any. A friend of mine is trying to convince me to go to LA for New Years, but I don't know if I want to go. I'd rather go to Miami (CESAR TAKE NOTE!!!) because I really want to visit that city. And it doesn't even look like Christmas here at all. It's in the mid-50's outside and very sunny. But then again that's Texas weather for you. It'll probably end up snowing in February or eary March!!

I've also been on a massive CD spending spree the past month. I've spent more deniro than I have all year. I've pretty much listened to nothing but the new Kelly Clarkson CD because it is really, really, really good! There's also this regaeeton (did I spell that right??) song that I heard and I think it's called "Gasolina", but I don't know who it is by. Anyone know who it is?? I like this song alot and want to find it.

My dad calls me almost weekly and asks me the SAME thing everytime. For some reason he worries that something is going to happen and that I'm going to live on the street. I keep reassuring him that as far as $$$ goes, I'm perfectly fine. He is such a worrier!! My mom on the other hand never asks. But that's just my dad....gotta love him even with all his wackiness!

There's No Place Like Home! There's No Place Like Home!

Ok......I know that it's been a quite a while since I last posted, but things have been very busy. Tuesday Nov. 23 was my last day at the Voice and I left that evening to Roswell for Thanksgiving. I don't have internet access there so I couldn't post, check email, or anything else.

In a nutshell Thanksgiving was good. My mom had one of her famous breakdowns Thanksgiving morning because she had the turkey in the oven under 200 degrees and didn't realize it until about 11:30 that morning. It had been cooking for God knows how long at that temperature! And since we always eat around noon or 1:00 she was in a tizzy. I had to console her and tell her it was fine because everything else was done....ham and all the trimmings. Oh, and my sister Tessa brought 7 freakin' pies because she couldn't decide which kind to bring.

The weather heading out there sucked. I ended up leaving Dallas at exactly 5:00 pm on Tuesday and I didn't make it into the west end of Ft. Worth until almost 6:30. Then I had to deal with the massive rains and I didn't get into Roswell until midnight (1:00 am here). Luckily I gain an hour going there. The weather sucked there too. The wind blew the entire week and nights were insanely cold. The trip back wasn't any better. When I got up this past Monday, it was 30 degrees and there were snow flurries. The wind was still there and was at least 30 mph unti I got to Brownfield. I didn't get into Ft. Worth until 5:00 (just in time for rush hour!!) because I lost an hour coming home. In all, it was a good trip. No drama, no arguements, no nothing!!

I also started my first day at Clear Channel on Wednesday. These past 3 days, my brain has been overloaded with info. I feel like I'm cramming for a final! There is so much damn information. I know that in time I'll get it all down, but it's just so much!

AND Sergio did something that embarrassed me. Apparently last Sunday he went out to JR's and ran into a friend of his. He was introduced to this guy who said his name was Derek. During the conversation he told Sergio he was the HR Director for Clear Channel and Sergio said, "Oh...you just hired my roommate!" Derek, of course, knew who he was talking about and Sergio proceeded to blurt out "Yeah...he thinks you have a realy cute butt." When Serge told me this I was mortified because I had to see Derek first thing on Wednesday. I was hoping that he wouldn't remember. Well...I didn't get to finalize paperwork until about 6:00 on Thursday because I was busy. Right in the middle of me signing, Derek mentioned that he ran into a friend of mine. I already knew, but I played like I didn't know. He couldn't remember his name and when he said that he was my roommate, I told him it was Sergio. Derek had this look on his face like he wanted to say something and I was thinking "PLEASE don't say anything!" He kept making small talk and luckily we were interrupted by an IT guy. At that point I said I was tired and was going home.

I mean, I do think he's cute (a little short....but cute) but I'm not good at facing people once they know that I think they are hot or have said something really embarrassing. And the Sales Manager for KISS is a queen and so is the Asst. Controller and one of the AE's for The Edge. So in 3 days I've been introduced to 4 guys, 2 of which are cute!!

Maybe I'll ask Derek out sometime. It wouldn't hurt to ask!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2004/12/theres-no-place-like-home-theres-no.html' title='There's No Place Like Home! You Decide!

Personally I have never liked A&F. My reasoning is that their clothes are way overpriced and really not that great. Plus when you spend 4 years on a college campus with too many people wearing their clothes, everybody starts looking the same.

In today's news, A&F has settled a $40 million race suit and has agreed to pay black, hispanic, and asian employees and job applicants after being accused of promoting whites at the expense of minorities. This really comes to no surprise to me. Spend some time at various A&F stores and you'll see a trend: mainly white employees who look alike, like they came out of a cookie cutter factory and every picture in the store showcasing a white model.

This class-action federal lawsuite requires A&F to adhere to a consent decree that requires them to implement new store policies and programs to promote diversity and prevent discrimination. They must also hire a vice president of diversity and hire up to 25 diversity recruiters. A&F has also promised that its marketing campaigns would reflect diversity.

CEO Mike Jeffries is quoted as saying, "We have, and always have had, no tolerance for discrimination. We decided to settle this suit because we felt that a long, drawn out dispute would have been harmful to the company and distracting to management." I don't buy this. Whenever companies or individuals don't want to own up to their mistakes they decide to take the easy way out and settle instead of clearing their name. If A&F honestly felt that they had absolutely no tolerance for discrimination they would have implemented such strategies a long time ago. It Seems to me that they wouldn't have begun such policies without this lawsuit.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2004/11/abercrombie-fitch-racist-or.html' title='Abercrombie & Fitch: Racist Or Progressive? The current celeb on the opening page is the wonderful and highly regarded actress Tara Reid from such Academy worthy films such as the "American Pie" series and "Josie and the Pussycats". In case you don't know, a few weeks ago there were a bunch of tongues wagging because she walked down the red carpet at an event with her entire left boob hanging out of her dress and was completely unaware of it. Talk about a wardrobe malfunction! The folks at awfulplasticsurgery.com were kind enough to post the photos and point out her scars from some really bad implants. Rather embarrassing if you ask me.

On another note, am I the only one tired of all these conservative, Christian groups making a stink about EVERYTHING under the sun? ABC recently was going to run "Saving Private Ryan" in it's entirety without any editing. Of course, these friggin' groups took it upon themselves to raise hell with the FCC and many ABC affiliates chose not to run the movie for fear of being fined for indecency. Who the hell are these bible bangers to decide what the entire country should view? What makes it even more ironic is that this film has run twice before without being cut on network TV. If the people in these groups would spend half the time that they do on these ridiculous crusades helping abused children, or people afflicted with awful diseases, or feeding the homeless our society would be so much better.

Now...can I get an AMEN??

.....In A Handbasket!

Boy are we in for another rough 4 years. John Kerry just conceded to George "Dubbya" Bush. There is one bright side to this....for me anyways. I honestly believe that in 2008, Hillary Clinton will throw her hat in. She had already said that she would, but not for the 2004 election. I really really want her to run and I believe that she would win. Not only that but she would be making history for being the first woman elected president!! Can you imagine??

With so many people upset at what a pit this country is currently in (the war in Iraq, the economy, the deficit), one would think that people would reconsider voting for this douche bag. I did notice last night that Kerry swept the west coast, the New England states, and the states in the Great Lakes area. The problem was in the middle and the south. That's where "Dubbya" had his stonghold. And, as no surprise to me, Texas went to him as well with 62% voting for him.

George Bush has made us out to be the most hated country in the world. We now have this image of being nothing but a big ol' bully who will run over any country we see fit to invade. He has run up the LARGEST deficit in the HISTORY of this country, but no one seems to care. More jobs were lost in his first 4 years than in the last 3 presidencies combined. He wants to ammend the constitution to include HIS values. I just really hope that everything comes crashing down around him.

Where's The Friggin' Sign??

Alex sent me on a wild goose chase this morning. I left early to go vote because this is the last day before election day that you can do it. WELL.....his directions were completely wrong and I ended up giving up. I called him when I got to the office and told him that the street he told me to turn on didn't exist. OOPS! He got confused. So now I have to wait until I get home tonight and have to possiblly endure a long wait.

On another note, the Kerry/Edwards yard sign was stolen sometime between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm yesterday. The Tarrant County Democratic Headquarters said they are going through the signs like water and they ran out of stakes, so they went to go get some more. Hopefully Cesar has an extra one and I'll get one from him.

On a depressing note, the stress of anticipating a move, a new job, and other things is getting to me again. When stress enters my life I seem to gain weight. I'm mad because I was doing so good and now I'm falling off the wagon again! I'm going to get this stress under control so I don't feel like crap. I guess I'll just have to put my mind to it and stop worrying so much right now. I don't think it's so mucy worrying as it is anticipation. That's what it is.....anticipation. Alot of things are changing right now and it's all happening at once. Is this good or bad?

Hot Dogs And Other Things.

I must say that last nights episode of "Desperate Housewives" was hilarious. I tell you.....if you haven't been watching this show, you should. It is sort of a soap opera with ongoing story lines, but they aren't hard to follow. This is definitely my favorite show after "Alias," of course!

So this morning I was doing my usual routine at work as I do every morning by checking email, returning phone calls, and reading the news online. I never buy a newspaper. Why waste perfectly good money when you can read it for FREE on the web??? I came across this story on msnbc.com about airport security checkpoints and spare change. Did you know that last year at total of $321,329.48 was collected at the nations airports security checkpoints in change?? Isn't that crazy??? At DFW International alone there was $13, 355.51 collected which came in second only to Chicago's O'Hare with $13,938.53. Of course I wondered what was done with the money. The answer came a little later in the article. Every year it is all deposited into the general fund for the U.S. Treasury Department. Makes me wonder what they do with it.

Now on to everyone's favorite food.....HOT DOGS! I was talking to Carrie this morning after remembering that I was supposed to call her back last night. OOPS! She told me that she was going to go have lunch with her son at school and that hot dogs were being served. She doesn't eat these things. She said she wasn't going to breathe through her nose the entire time she was there because the smell alone is enough to make her gag. I on the other hand enjoy a good hot dog. She swears up and down that they are made from, as she puts it, "Snouts, hair and hooves." I told her she was insane. So I went to google while she was on the phone and typed in the sentence "What are hot dogs made of" and what I found was....well, interesting.

I was on the healthy eating website and they proceeded to say that hot dogs are made from pork, chicken, beef, or turkey or a combination these meats. It said that all beef or all pork hot dogs are made from one animal (kinda scary to know that other animals are combined in some brands) and I was a little relieved because I only eat all beef ones. It then said that if on the list of ingredients, if the words "animal byproducts" or "mechanically seperated meat" is listed then you are pretty much eating crap. Things like liver, heart and other organs are sent through the grinder because there are some meat left on them. On some occassions even some bone ends up getting grinded through. I thought Carrie was going to throw up on the phone.

So let this be a lesson to all......if the words "animal byproducts" or "mechanically seperated meat" appear on the package of your hot dogs (and this includes bologna), DO NOT EAT IT!! For Gods sake go spend the extra $1 and buy the all beef or all pork kinds!!!

Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner.........

The Weekend And Other Comments

I'm not going to comment much on this weekend because some things just don't need to be expressed in a public forum where others can read it. All I'm going to say is that things were worked through and all is well in the Kingdom of Chico. I love my friends dearly and I'm glad we are all adult enough to talk and resolve issues without any unnecessary drama.

On another note, Cesar, Sergio, and myself went out to dinner tonight. What was intended to be a night at America's didn't turn out like that. I wasn't aware that they were closed on Sunday nights (kinda weird for a restaurant) ended up elsewhere. After Cesar and I saw it was closed we decided to go to Cafe Madrid because I thought it was Cuba Libre. Turns out Cafe Madrid is ALSO closed on Sundays. GRRRR!

Across the street from that place is Samba Room. We decided to go there so I called Sergio for the 100th time to change the location. I really doubt I will be back there again. It's described as a Cuban restaurant, so I was really intrigued by it. Turns out it's not that great. First off, most of the menu is seafood which I don't do. Secondly, it's way overpriced for the food quality. At the end of the night the bill came to $108!!!! Holy crap! The friggin' pitcher of sangria alone was $20. I will have to admit though that the flourless chocolate cake I had was fabulous! Other than that, skip this restaurant. I really want to try Cafe Madrid though.....so Cesar, we're going!!

After this, Sergio went home and Cesar and I went to see Shark Tale. If you haven't seen this movie......go see it! It's really cute and funny and Cesar and I laughed. It's nothing like Finding Nemo. It really stand apart. It's funny to see the turmoil that Lenny the shark goes through because he is "vegetarian" when the adult innuendo could be interpreted as "gay." This is why my friend Carrie now refers to me as "vegetarian." Isn't she hilarious???

Women Here VS Women There

You hear so much (mainly from citizens of the United States) about how we are the greatest country in the world. Things here are 100 times better then in many parts of the world. But sometimes you wonder if we really are.

Every once in a while when I can't sleep at night, I'll get up and watch Oprah at 12:30. Last night was such a night. I love it when she does a show that lets the viewer take a peek into how people in other countries live. This particular episode took a look at how a 30 year old woman in 17 various countries live compared to their American counterparts. What I learned was interesting.

In Kuwait, which is the only democracy in the Middle East, a 30 year old woman is usually married.....but to her cousin. Families do this to keep their blood within their family. I was sort of taken aback by this, but the woman said that in the Middle East it's not looked down upon. Not only that, but to encourage marriage all newlyweds receive a $12,000 gift which consists of $6000 directly from the King plus a $6000 interest free loan. There is literally no people living in poverty in Kuwait due to that country being rich in oil and most people have a fleet of luxury cars. The state provides ALL health care free of charge and also pays for ALL education costs up to the college level. At the college level, the graduation rate is 64% female and 36% male. The only thing women can't do is vote. Oh....all citizens also do NOT pay any income tax.

In France, women generally will not be overweight. Only 32% are overweight compared to 64% of American women. But 1 in 3 smoke and on average each drinks 17 gallons of wine a year. The government, again, pays for ALL health care for it's citizens and enforces a 35-hour work week with a mandatory 5-weeks of paid vacation a year. Uncanny!

In Brazil, if you are a 30 year old woman you will most likely spend most of your time in a thong at the beach. Plastic surgery is rampant there with butt implants being the most requested procedure.

In South Korea, plastic surgery is out of control for women in their early 30's. Many are undergoing a procedure to make their eyes more round to look more Western. They spend 3 times the average monthly salary of $1500-2000 on enhancements to their eyes, their nose, and a painful calf muscle shaving procedure to make their legs appear thinner.

In Mexico, women generally DO NOT work out or diet. This is because the men prefer their women with curves. Also, women tend to always look their best in body fitting dresses and heels. One bad thing is the rate of infidelity of men. In Mexico, if a couple wants a divorce and the husband can prove that the wife didn't fulfill her sexual duties (which is quite easy to prove) she forfeits any allimony for life. Therefore most women expect their husbands to cheat.

In Cuba, the government pays for all health care for it's citizens. The cost to get a divorce is $3.50 and usually takes no more than 5 minutes. If both parties agree to it, then a notary public can authorize it. The average monthly income is $23 and most live in poor conditions. A woman of 30 also, on average, will have had 3 abortions by the time she reaches that age.

In Rwanda, a 30 year old woman is lucky to be just that.....a woman who is 30. Most were butchered in the slaughter that took place there a decade ago.

Oprah had a woman from some of the countries she featured on the show and asked them the same question: what was their perception of American women?? They all said that the perception they have of American women is overweight, pushy, constantly on the go, and they do not take time out to just relax.

I always find it interesting the perception that people in other parts of the world have of us. Sometimes it makes you step back and do the same.

Bally's = BAD!

I'm going to forwarn you. This is going to be a bitch session about Bally's. Basically, they suck.....no, I stand corrected.....they FUCKING suck! Let me tell you what happened:

Back in Nov. of 2001, I wanted to join a gym. Since Bally's was the only one near my house I went to them. When you are a new member, they lock you into a 3 year contract, which I didn't have a problem with because I was having a card charged monthly for the dues. 2 months into it, I decided to just pay off all 3 years on a credit card. Overall I've been pretty happy with them untiil now.

I got a renewal notice about a week and a half ago notifying me that my membership expires on Dec. 15. I was given 3 options to renew: 1 year at $325.75, 2 years at $633.26, and 3 years at $925.54. They also let me know that for a one-time charge of $99 I can upgrade from my Fitness level to a Platinum level so I can work out at any Bally's location in the DFW area. Wonderful! So I called and told the customer service person that I wanted to do the 3 years plus the $99 upgrade fee which brought the total to $1024.54. I told her that I was going to give her a card number to have the amount charged monthly over the 3 years. I was told that I had to pay the full amount NOW.....I cannot be charged monthly. This set a long debate as to why they couldn't do this. So she put me on hold.

When she came back she said that if I wanted to billed monthly I can only renew for 1 year out at a time. I said fine....I'll do that. Then she said that my total charged now would be $423.75, which was the 1 year option and the upgrade fee. This confused me. I explained to her that is not what she just said, so I asked for a supervisor. The minute this supervisor got on the phone, I could hear the attitude in her voice and knew it wasn't going to go well. I started off by explaining the conversation between me and the CSA and she rudely interrupted me and said "I know what was said.....I was standing right there." She then told me that my options were to pay the full $1024.54 now or go to another gym. I was really shocked at this. I told her that I was amazed that a member who had paid their initial contract in full and was wanting to remain with them was being treated so badly. She said, "Well sir, that's your opinion." I immediately hung up.

At this point I went to the website and wrote a letter to the corporate office. This was their response:

Dear Mr. Segura:

Re: Account no. 0045 802 624 002

Thank you for your recent e-mail to Bally Total Fitness.

By electing to take advantage of the 3 year renewal and upgrade option for $1024.54, you are electing to pay this in full. Unfortunately, this offer can not be paid monthly.

Thank you for choosing Bally Total Fitness to serve your health and fitness needs.

Bally Total Fitness
Member Services Department

So my response was this:

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for your form letter response. You have made my decision to leave Bally's much easier and I look forward to spending long-term dollars with one of your competitors who appreciates their members.

Luciano Segura III

So in essense, I am upset that I was treated this way and can't believe that they obviously don't care. I have no problem going to 24 Hr. Fitness which does not lock you in any type of contract and has nicer facilities. So stay away from Bally's.....they are evil evil evil!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!

It's been raining all morning. I know this because it woke me up around 4 a.m. and I wasn't able to go back to sleep. The radio also said it's supposed to be like this all week through Friday. What is up with that? I had a conversation with Carrie this morning about the screwiness of Texas weather and how it will randomly rain throughout the year. Most other places have rainy seasons, but Texas just has fucked up weather patterns. Where else can it be 110 degrees outside, suddenly rain, and the water be hot! Go figure.

Last night I found a new guilty pleasure on TV. I normally don't watch much network television because everything nowadays is either a reality show or a legal drama. And since the invention of Tivo, I can record it and watch it later while skipping the commercials. But because my beloved "Alias" isn't returning until January on Sunday nights, I decided to watch "Desperate Housewives" which was put in it's timeslot. I think I'm hooked. Now before you start laughing or rolling your eyes, you really should watch it. It's a dark drama/comedy.......a dramedy if you will......about a group of housewives on a fictional street called Wisteria Lane. You have the divorced single mother who hasn't had sex in forever, the corporate executive turned housewife and mother who misses her job, the gold digger who married for money who ends up screwing the lawnboy all over the house, and the anal retentaive stepford wife-ish homemaker who likes everything perfect. They are all friends who come together after a 5th housewife and their friend blows her brains out 10 minues into the show and sticks around as a voiceover, leaving everyone to wonder what drove her to it. Tossed in the mix, you have the neighborhood slut who sleeps with anything with a penis and is breathing (come on....we all know someone like this) and the nosy neighbor who is always in everyone's business. The husbands are really just a byproduct of the show. Slowly you begin to see the secrets these seemingly perfect housewives are hiding. Especially the one who killed herself. At the end of the first show last night, the other 4 find a letter postmarked the day of her death. It was one of those "I know what you did" letters and leaves everyone wondering what happened. There's actually an encore showing of the first show on Saturday I think. Tape it if you must!

It's over the top, overly dramatic at times, and over acted. But hey, aren't most gay men like this anyways? Maybe that's why I liked it so much.

City Of Dallas Building - A.K.A. Here in Texas it's called the Department of Public Safety. I'll just keep referring to it as the Department of Motor Vehicles.

After passing the building 4 times without knowing that is where I was supposed to be, I stopped the first "normal" looking person I saw and asked them where it was. They pointed to the very large building I kept passing. I felt quite stupid.

I walked to the front of the building and boy did it stink! The smell of pee was so bad that I gagged. I held my breath and quickly made my way inside and asked the rent-a-cop at the front desk where I was supposed to go. She was really nice and helped me with my directions. I ended up waiting for 1 1/2 hours! I kept myself amused by noticing the people working at the front desk. They didn't seem like they enjoyed their job. You know someone doesn't enjoy their job when they casually throw the word "shit" out and not care that they work in such a public setting.

But now I can drive without any worries. I'll just have to make do with that little piece of paper for about 4 weeks or so.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hornedfrog77.blogspot.com/2004/09/city-of-dallas-building-aka-largest.html' title='City Of Dallas Building - A.K.A. I sort of have this tendency to anticipate the best and end up disappointed when it doesn't pan out. I'm trying my hardest not to expect ANYTHING out of this interview, but I can't help it. I keep going over different scenarios in my head. This, of course, is 1 of the 2 companies I dream about working for. I think I need some therapy.

Anyhoo....to get my mind off of this, I was thinking about some of the random things that go through my mind throughout the day:

1. Why do some people wear jeans to the gym?
2. Don't people realize it's icky to leave a workout machine dripping with their sweat after they are done?
3. Is there really a need to block off 10 miles of a freeway lane for absolutely no reason whatsoever?
4. Why does your nose burn when you burp after drinking Dr. Pepper, but never any other soda?
5. Does the above phenomena just happen to me?
6. Just how many "versions" of Law and Order and CSI can there possibly be before they all start to look alike?
7. Why do I find Angelina Jolie extremely hot?
8. Am I the only one who thinks Madonna has finally gone cooky?
9. Is it just me, or are department stores seem to be putting out Christmas items earlier and earlier every year?
10. Which is better: Wal Mart or Target? Target or Wal Mart? She got over her stressed-induced bout of diarrhea. I took her to JR's and I was laughing because she looked like a small town tourist in a big city for the first time. All she kept saying was, "All these guys are gay? What a waste!" I bought her 1 drink and well....that did it!! The funniest part of the night though was when I took her to The Male Boxx. Maybe this wasn't a very good idea because it was sort of like throwing her to the wolves. I warned her that there were dancers at this place. She was cool with that. BUT.....we walked in and started making our way to the other side and she made a u-turn and started heading towards the door. She was laughing so hard. She said she wasn't expecting to see that!!!

What she saw was a dancer in a, shall we say, revealing outfit. It left nothing to the imagnation. After composing herself we made it back to the other side to get a drink and hav ea seat. I was watching her and I caught her looking out of the corner of her eye at this dancer!!! She said, "I can't help it! If anything that big wanted to be used on me I'd have to say no!" We left after 1 drink. Then she confessed that she had no clue what this guy looked like in the face. She ended up just gawking from the waist down.

We did make it an early night though because I knew that it was way past her bedtime. She said she had a very fun time though.

Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Right Now....

So tonight I'm going to see the motion picture "Hero" with Cesar and Ivan. I'm taking my friend Carrie because her son is having a sleep over at a buddy of his tonight and she never gets a break from her role as Parental Unit. After the movie we're heading out to Dallas. She's so funny. I talked to her this morning and she said that it's been so long since she's gone out (literally years) that's she's so nervous that she has diarrhea. I told her to bring a bottle of Pepto Bismol.

Oy Vey!!!

I caught up on some much needed sleep this weekend. Friday night I had made plans with Lamont to go see "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" and I liked it! It was much better than the first one. Plus it's always fun to watch movies with Lamont....especially ones where I have to explan a number of things. For example, why the character Jill Valentine rushes out of her house and the first outfit she finds to put on in a moments notice consists of combat boots, a VERY short mini-skirt and a halter top. It's just funny to hear him say outloud, "Now why does she run out of her house looking like a hooker??"

I had actually almost over slept. When I got home from work I decided to take a power nap. Next thing I know it's pitch black and my clock says it's 8:58. The movies starts at 9:30 and I told Lamont that he MUST meet me at 9:15 because he knows how pissy I get if I miss my previews. I jumped outta bed stumbling around my dark room trying to find my shoes. I left without even taking a chance to see what kind of hell I looked like!!! Anyhow we had a good time. It was good to spend time with him.

On Saturday Alex had anothe poker party. I didn't want to be there so I called Cesar to see what he was doing. I had actually found this HUGE bottle of wine in our pantry and I decided to chill it and head over to Cesars with it. I got there around 6:30 and we left to go get some fancy meats and cheeses to have with our wine. The wine actually wasn't all that great. After 4 or 5 glasses it just tasted like shit. Needless to say this didn't stop us from almost finishing the bottle. So we left around 9:45 to Dallas to meet up with Sergio in Gayville. I slept at Cesars because I had to be at my friend Carries house at 8:00 and she lives 1 exit from Cesar. After going to bed around 4 am I was extremely tired. I didn't get home until 11:30 Sunday morning and slept until 4:30 that afternoon. During my slumber, Alex proceeded to leave me a note on the 'fridge that he was going to stay the night at Justins and would be home in the morning. Now....on to the drama!!!

Ok....before I went to bed I made sure that the house was locked up tight and that the spotlight over the garage was on to ward off any would-be intruders. I went to bed knowing that I was alone in the house only to be woken up by a knocking on my bedroom door. Talk about messing myself! This scared the living shit out of me!!! I didn't know what to do so I did what I used to do when I was little and was scared.....I pretended to be alseep. The knocking continued and I heard "Chico, can I come in??" It was Alex. I told him to come in and chided him for scaring me. At this point it's 3:30 in the morning and he says "Can I talk to you about Justin?" Being the lovely and caring person that I am, I scooted over on my bed so he could sit. He told me that he came home because there were random people over Justins apartment. Justin went to the store and ended up bringing this very young person with him. Alex asked who he was and Justin said that it was a friend of Ryans (one of the other people who was over.)

Well....about 30 minutes later or so Justin says that he is walking this other person out because he is going home and ends up grabbing his car keys. Alex thought this was weird because Justin told him they all had cars. At this point Justin's roommate Mark comes in and tells Alex that he has something to tell him. Mark tells Alex that Justin has been smoking out for about 7 days straight and that he overheard him say that he was going to get his rent money after he goes over to a "friends house who works in Dallas until 6:00 and take some of his stuff to pawn on Monday." This freaks Alex out and he begins to wonder if that random person that Justin brought over is his dealer. Alex grabs his shit and heads out the door. He then catches Justin in the car with the boy doing naughty naughty things. Apparently Justin is turning tricks for his fix!!! Yeah.....I know.

SOOO.....at this point I'm beyond pissed about this. (See posting from 9/5 about the house key) I told Alex that he must leave work tomorrow morning around 10:30 to come home and change out all the locks on the house. I told him to ask the little old lady across to street to call the cops and his cell if she sees Justin's car outside. This woman is kinda the neighborhood watch dog. Then, when Justin calls you tomorrow (and he will) casually mention that you are having Brinks security come out today to activate the security system after a long delay. I also told him to call up the place where he will start working on Tuesday (courtesy of Alex who got him the job) and inform Jim (the manager and dear friend of Alex ) of what is going on.

So now it is 4:00 in the morning and I cannot get back to sleep. I ended up tossing and turning until the alarm went off at 7:15. I'm surprisingly not as tired as I was a couple of hours ago, but I know it's going to hit me around 3:00.

I don't know where Alex finds these winners from!! It's just one thing after another when it comes to the people he takes an interest in. Damnit....learn from your mistakes!!! If I meet someone and I find that they have been unemployed for 9 months, is about to have their car repoed for missing 3 payments and is risking being evitcted I would kick them to the curb! Will he ever learn???

"911, What Is Your Emergency?"

This is from the Taipei Times posted on Sept. 7. If you look up the word "hypochondriac" in the dictionary you will find his picture. What took the cake was on Friday. He didn't make it into work until about 1:15 that afternoon. I had gone to see a client and was pulling into the parking garage when I saw him pull in behind me. He got out of his truck clutching a box of tissue in one arm and a carton (not a small bottle, but a whole carton!) of orange juice in the other. I swear you would have thought he was on his death bed. All he had was a little head cold. I looked at him and started to laugh. He asked what I was laughing about and I told him that he was being just a bit dramatic. Then I proceeded up the elevator.

So.....what this led to was his loser boyfriend staying ANOTHER weekend here. Surprisingly, Alex seemed to make a miracalous (spelling?) recovery by the time I got home from work around 5:30 or so. He had actually left to go back home around 2:30. When I drove up only Alex's truck was here. I was sitting on the couch watching The Simpsons when the door unlocked and in walks Justin (his current flavor of the week). This didn't sit too well with me. First of all, it scared the shit out of me because the only 2 people who have keys were home: me and Alex. I looked at Justin and asked if Alex had given him his set of keys and he said that Alex GAVE him a house key. This irks me beyond belief. First of all, this guy has only been around for a couple of weeks and Alex is already giving him a key to the house?? So I told Justin that I would appreciate it if instead of just coming in when my car is here if he would knock or ring the doorbell. If Alex is the only one here then fine......let yourself in. I live here too and I don't appreciate it when people who's last name I don't even know just lets themselves in. He just gave me this odd look and went to the other side of the house.

Am I being too dramatic myself? Or am I in the right?

No More Bush!

Ok....so I was treking to work this morning listening to news radio 1080 AM KRLD as I do every morning and they did a piece on the Republican National Convention. It was said that the average age of an attendee at this convention was 54!! WOW! Then they said that close to 1000 protesters were arrested last night. This is clearly a sign that people are fed up with the current administration. I have just sent in my voter registration and put down myself as a Democrat. Even though I live in a state that is overwhelmingly Republican, I feel that it is my DUTY to vote in November. I urge everyone to do the same. Even if you know that your state is going to go to Bush, STILL VOTE! I think that there are many people who don't vote because they feel it won't make a difference. But let me tell you.....if these large numbers get off their butt on Nov. 3, it will show that in these Republican states there are a large number of Democrats who won't sit by and do nothing. SO DO IT!

I was also telling my dear friend Carrie Marie Torres this story about my frustration with people who talk about things and tend to contradict themselves. I was getting a hair cut a few weeks back (I always go to the same person) and the stylist next to her was cutting this mans hair. As it usually happens, that stylist started making small talk with her client and asked him if he was ready to vote in November. First thought that popped in my head was "Oh Jesus here we go!" He proceeded to say that regardless he ALWAYS votes Republican. WHAT?? I wanted to turn to him and ask him why he is voting straight Republican when in the same breath he's commenting on some of the things that he disagrees with Bush and the Republican party about, especially if they are major things! Then his stylist proceeded to say she does the same thing, commented on how she thought Theresa Heinz-Kerry is a bitch and that after she found out Mrs. Heinz-Kerry is from the Heinz fortune she threw out ALL her Heinz products from her refrigerator. She will NEVER buy another Heinz product again. What the hell? How stupid can you be? But I just held my tongue. There are some topics that just end up getting too heated.

I think next time I'll walk in with a Heinz ketchup bottle and squirt her with it.

My First Ever Blog!

Ok.....I've never done this blog thing, but listening to Cesar and Kerry talk about them it seemed like a cool idea. So I thought, "What the hell?" and created one tonight.

Kerry was in town from her farm in Minnesota (hehe) visiting Cesar and they came over to my house last night so we could go paint the town red (or pink). Upon waiting for them to arrive I had the brilliant idea of drinking wine and well.....it did the trick. We went to JR's and had a drink or 2 there and then Ash and Syed (I can never spell his name), and Joel met up with us. Then we left and went to Minc and had a good time. Kerry is a trip. She's good people and really kept me laughing all night. Plus I got to feel her up! WOOHOO!

We left Minc around 1:00 and went to Kaliente for a bit. Did run into Sumir (sigh!) but damnit....he was with a scrawny guy. Well....as Cesar put it I missed my chance! We danced at Kaliente (with a K) for a while then left. Had Mexican food and went home. I was very tired and crashed the minute I got home.

Regardless I had a great time. Wish Kerry could make it back here more often!!!
